Questions
Can it convert older .doc files?
No, only .docx, the format Word has used since 2007. Open a .doc file in Word or Google Docs and save it as .docx first.
Which Word formatting is kept?
Headings, bold, italics, strikethrough, links, bulleted and numbered lists, tables, footnotes, images and paragraphs styled as code or quotes. Fonts, colours and page layout have no Markdown equivalent, so they’re dropped.
Should images go inside the Markdown or in separate files?
Inside makes one self-contained file, but a long one, since each picture becomes text. Separate files give you a .zip with the .md and an images folder, which is what GitHub and most sites expect.
Is my text uploaded anywhere?
No. Everything runs in your browser, so drafts, notes and documents stay on your device, and the tools keep working offline once the page has loaded.
Do I need an account?
No. Every Markdown tool is free to use without signing in, with no limits.
