Markdown to Jira

Paste Markdown from a README, an AI chat or your notes and get Jira wiki markup for a ticket or a Confluence page, or go the other way and turn Jira markup into Markdown.

Runs on your device. Nothing you type or paste is uploaded.

How to use the Markdown to Jira

  1. Choose the direction: Markdown → Jira or Jira → Markdown.
  2. Paste your text, or drop a file onto the box. The conversion updates as you type.
  3. Copy the result into Jira’s text mode, Confluence’s wiki markup, or your Markdown file.

Private by design

Many online converters send your text to their server, which matters for drafts, notes and anything confidential. Markdown to Jira runs entirely in your browser: nothing is uploaded, logged or stored on a server, and it keeps working with your network switched off. It’s free, with no account and no limits.

Questions

Where do I paste Jira wiki markup?

In Jira Server and Data Center, into any text field in its Text mode. In Confluence, insert it as wiki markup (Insert, then Markup). Both read the same syntax this converter writes.

What happens to things Jira can’t show?

Task boxes become the (/) and (x) icons, GitHub-style alerts become panels with a title, and footnotes are numbered with the notes listed at the end. Images keep their address; attach the image to the issue and use its file name to show it inline.

Does it handle tables and code?

Yes. Tables become ||heading|| and |cell| rows, and fenced code keeps its language, as {code:python}. Going the other way, {code}, {noformat}, {quote} and {panel} blocks all come back as Markdown.

Is my text uploaded anywhere?

No. Everything runs in your browser, so drafts, notes and documents stay on your device, and the tools keep working offline once the page has loaded.

Do I need an account?

No. Every Markdown tool is free to use without signing in, with no limits.
